How to use social media to book your next gig or sell your next DVD


As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, social media is a fickly tool. It's a great business tool if you know how to use it correctly, but first you need to use it with intention. What do you want to gain from Instagram, Pinterest, FB, etc? What is your goal? How do you create a consistent social media strategy?

Here are 3 ways you can use 3 different social media platforms to book your next gig or sell your next DVD.

Use Instagram to showcase happy clients


Give an insight of your day to day and behind the scenes life as a bellydancer. You humanize your business and by showing how you work, it gives potential clients a look at all the other times you’ve done a great, professional job!

Engage in FB Groups to promote your products or workshop topics


FB is a tricky platform. It’s not what it used to be in the sense that your friends don’t always see everything you post (the same goes for Facebook Pages). You’re encouraged to pay for ads which is a great investment but you have to really know what you’re doing there or hire someone else to do it for you, which can get pricey quickly. FB groups are a great way to still engage with a target group of people and your post will get seen! Don’t start joining and selling just yet though. Think of it as a community where you are the helpful individual who can answer questions in your field of expertise. The more you engage in a friendly, professional and helpful manner, the more the members of that group will think of you when it comes to XYZ.

Pin your products on Pinterest


Pinterest is an amazing tool that surprisingly many bellydancers haven’t utilized to their full potential! Pinterest is more of a search engine than a social media platform which means when someone needs visual searches for a product, Pinterest is where they go to. This can come in handy if you are selling a product (costumes, DVDs, online course, etc) because you can pin it across multiple boards and reach new audiences. If you have a blog leading to a sign up link for your newsletter, you can pin it on Pinterest and it can be a lead magnet to your newsletter.
